Churn out State first rank holder, 12 second rank holders and 29 third rank holders in SSLC exam
Most schools in Madurai were in a jubilant mood on Friday after declaration of results of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations. The district has produced a State first rank holder, 12 second rank holders and 29 third rank holders in SSLC.
A. Sanjana, a student of SDH Jain Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School here, is one of the 19 first rank holders in the State. She has secured 499 marks. G. Durga Devi of TVS Matriculation Higher Secondary School, who had Sanskrit as first language, has created a record by securing full marks in all the subjects scoring 500 out of 500 marks.
A total of 45,772 students, including 23,837 boys and 21,935 girls, took the exams in the district. The number of students who have passed is 41,883, which includes 20,885 boys and 20,998 girls.
With an overall pass percentage of 93.13, the district has been ranked at 11th position in the State.
Madurai district has witnessed only a marginal dip in its pass percentage, compared to last year.
The pass percentage last year was 93.43, officials in the School Education Department said.
The pass percentage of girls has dipped from 95.82 last year to 95.73 this year. For the boys it has dipped from 91.16 per cent to 87.62 percent.
Among the educational districts of Madurai, Usilampatti and Melur, the students of Madurai educational district have fared well, having secured 92.71 pass percent. Melur students stand next with 92.27 percent and Usliampatti students have secured 87.88 percent.Centum pass schools
Six government schools, two Corporation schools, four Kallar schools, one Adi Dravidar Welfare (ADW) school, nine government-aided schools and 130 matriculation schools in the district have achieved centum pass this year. The pass percentage in government schools is 84.09, Corporation schools is 94.48, Kallar schools is 83.97, ADW schools is 73.76, government-aided schools is 92.22 and matriculation schools is 99.28.
District Revenue Officer L. Chitrarasu honoured the toppers at the Collectorate on Friday.
