Madurai pushed to 16th place in State

Registers pass percentage of 92.33 in this year’s Plus Two examination results

The district registered a pass percentage of 92.33 in this year’s Plus Two results which were declared on Friday.

Of the total 36,418 students who appeared for the examinations at 264 schools in the district, 33,625 have come out successful, giving a pass percentage of 92.33. The overall result analysis shows that Madurai district stands at the 16 place in the State. This year’s pass percentage has seen a marginal dip from last year’s 93.77 per cent.

Students who scored the top three ranks this year with Tamil as the first subject were H. Lalitha of C.E.O.A. Matriculation Higher Secondary School (1,186 marks), M. Kaaviya of S.D.H. Jain Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School (1,185 marks) and M.S.L. Rakshana Shree of St. Joseph’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

The pass percentage of both boys and girls had dipped this year.

While 17,738 boys appeared for the Plus Two examinations, 15,688 boys had passed giving a pass percentage of 88.44 per cent. It was 90.94 per cent last year.

Of the total 18,845 girls who took the exams this year, 17,937 passed out giving the district a pass percentage of 95.18 per cent as against 96.32 per cent last year.

The student who scored the highest marks in Madurai district with language other than Tamil was S. Sivaram of Jeevana Matriculation Higher Secondary School who secured 1,192 marks with full marks in four subjects. He had chosen French. Nisha R. Tated of S.D.H. Jain Vidyalaya with 1,185 marks (cent per cent marks in four subjects) with Sanskrit language was stood second. S. Prashanth Vamanan who scored 1,185 marks (full score in two subjects) was stood third. He had also taken Sanskrit.
