A Madurai-born entrepreneur has made his mark in the land where he chose to reside and work by winning the Businessperson of the Year award given by a trade body in Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America.
Arvind Krishnaswami, a native of Madurai who grew up in Bangalore and New Delhi, studied electrical engineering at Regional Engineering College in Surat. Mr. Arvind went to the US for his Masters in Electrical Engineering and then pursued MBA at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
His proud father M. S. Krishnaswami, a resident of Shenoy Nagar in Madurai, said that out of several eligible entrepreneurs, his son was adjudged the businessperson of the year for 2012 from the category of Emerging entrepreneurs (3-7 years), on June 7, in Atlanta.
After gaining adequate experience for almost a decade in industry evaluations, business strategies, data analytics prioritising in evaluating the healthcare industry revenue cycle process, he founded Medlytix in 2006 in Atlanta and emerged a successful entrepreneur after putting in six years of hard work.
Each year, the Metro Atlanta Chamber and the Atlanta Business Chronicle honour outstanding small business professionals from around metro Atlanta through Businessperson of the Year award.
In an interview to ‘Atlanta Business Chronicle,' Mr. Aravind has said that Medlytix helped about six lakh persons over the past year across US by getting their entire hospital bills written off.
According to Mr. Aravind, Medlytix system is in place in 400 hospitals in 38 States of the US. The hospitals had no way of knowing the income of patients and hence their capacity to pay hospital bills. Hence, patients were sent through the same collection process and it was impossible to determine who should receive the charity. The company had evolved a system that helped in streamlining the charity offer available for patients in the US hospitals by inferring the income data of the patients. It was a win-win situation for all. Mr. Aravind owes his success to his parents Mr. Krishnaswami and Padma Krishnanswami.
