Advocates affiliated to various associations in the Madras High Court Bench here boycotted court proceedings and resorted to various methods of protests and agitations on Wednesday to express their support to Eelam Tamils.

The advocates staged a road roko in front of the Bench in the morning. Around 60 advocates took out a rally in 25 motorcycles and five cars to the District Court where they extended their support to the group of advocates who are on a hunger strike for the third day.

At the airport

Later the advocates staged a protest at the airport. There were some tense moments when one of the protesters was injured after allegedly assaulted by a CISF jawan. The advocates staged a demonstration in front of the airport seeking apology from the jawan.

They later dispersed after the intervention of Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) R. Thirunavukarasu.

They burnt the effigy of Prime Minister near the airport, a police officer said.
