July 10, 2013 11:56 am | Updated 11:56 am IST - MADURAI:

A Sri Lankan Tamil living in London has moved the Madras High Court bench here seeking custody of his two minor children.

A division bench, comprising Justices S.Rajeswaran and T.Mathivanan, adjourned the case till July 30, with directions to the litigant to implead the Oomatchikulam police as a respondent.

The petitioner claimed that his wife had left London for Madurai with their children without intimating him on April 8, 2011. After that she refused to let him talk to their children, he alleged.

The tourist visa of the children had expired long ago, making their stay in India illegal, he contended.

He sought direction to his wife to produce their children at the court and give their custody to him.
