The city police arrested all the remaining five accused in the kidnap of a pharmacy retailer and totally recovered Rs.11.37 lakh and gold jewellery worth Rs.2 lakh from them.
The police also seized three lethal weapons and a motorcycle used during the kidnap of R.Janarthanam (58) on April 18 night. The gang had taken a ransom of Rs.15 lakh from his wife before letting him free.
The Teppakulam police arrested Ganesan alias Pushparaj (32), son of notorious antisocial ‘Tendral’ Mohan, killed in an encounter with the police, and his accomplice S.Muniyaraja (32) of Theni district.
They had taken a share of Rs.4 lakh each from the ransom, Teppakulam Inspector M.Ramani said.
Along with the duo, the police arrested G.‘Auto’ Muthu alias Muthukumar (34) on Tuesday.
The special team recovered Rs.5.70 lakh from the trio, including gold jewellery worth Rs.2 lakh bought by Muniyaraja.
On Wednesday, the police arrested the remaining two, P.Arunkannu (24) and M.Ganesan (24) of Maninagaram here and recovered Rs.10,000 from them.
The gang spent the rest of the money on liquor, lodging and touring Kanyakumari, Tiruchendur and Kodaikanal, the inspector said.
The special team had arrested V.Sasikumar (36) and V.Ganesan (56) on Monday and recovered Rs.5.60 lakh from them.
