The meet gains significance in view of the apex court guidelines on conducting jallikattu events
Ahead of the annual jallikattu, Madurai Collector Anshul Mishra presided over a meeting in which officers from various government departments participated here on Friday. The meeting gains significance as the apex court had recently directed the authorities concerned to conduct the jallikattu events with several guidelines.
The Animal Husbandry Department officials said that the guidelines include a series of medical examination for the participating bulls.
The Health Department, police and revenue authorities, who also participated in the preparatory meeting, said that first aid and security arrangements among other parameters had to be in place at the venue. The PWD officials also had to issue stability certificate to the gallery and other stages that are erected in the venue. The number of persons intending to participate in the jallikattu would be examined well ahead of the event.
