IT SEZ likely to be opened in January

The ELCOT's Information Technology Special Economic Zone at Gangaikondan near here, which was about to be inaugurated during this November, is likely to take off during January 2011.

According to ELCOT sources in Chennai, Syntel India is likely to hire two floors of the three-storeyed building having the total plinth area of 50,000 square feet. The building, sitting at the main entrance of the 500-acre SEZ, will have car parking area, centralised air-conditioning system, sewerage treatment plant, food court on the terrace etc.

Apart from hiring the two floors at the rate of Rs.20 per square foot, measuring about 40,000 sq. ft., Syntel India may also take 25 acres on this SEZ, the sources said. Moreover, Sutherland Global Services (10 acres), Deccan Services (2 acres) etc. had been allotted land on the sprawling area of 100 acres to be developed in phase I.

Solar power generation company, A & D Solar Systems, which has planned to generate 5MW energy from this complex, had been allotted 25 acres.

It has been planned to establish an international school, a hospital with all modern facilities, shopping mall, space for recreation, a helipad etc. on this complex in future.
