An integrated Aavin complex housing both chilling plant and other processing facilities and administrative office will be constructed in five acres of land in Dindigul to boost milk production and manufacture of other milk products. A suitable site for the complex will be identified soon, said Minister for Dairy Development V. Murthy said,
He said this while launching mysoorpa, a value added product in the Aavin chilling plant at SIDCO industrial estate near here on Friday.
The Minister said that the Collector will identify the site and send proposals in this connection immediately. The government was ready to offer fodder subsidy, install bulk milk coolers and all other facilities required for boosting milk production.
Farmers should avail these facilities offered by the government and boost milk production. Local bodies should also insist farmers to supply milk to the cooperative societies in a large scale.
Aavin has been spending Rs.16,000 crore a month in order to settle arrears to cooperative societies and milk suppliers. Distribution of free cows has increased milk production in the State considerably, he said and added that milk procurement and cash disbursal by the Aavin was far better than private companies. In Dindigul alone, 53,000 litres of milk is being procured by Aavin every day. Around 13,000 litres were consumed locally and 40,000 litres sent to Chennai. Dindiugl Aavin that was running acute loss for a long time, has earned a profit of Rs.10 lakh this year, he added.
Cancel licence
Mr. Murthy ordered officials to cancel licences of Aavin sales booth agents who attempted to sell other products in Aavin parlours. Aavin has provided sales booths, sign boards and other facilities at vantage points to sell Aavin products. As some sales commission agents in Dindigul have been selling other products using Aavin sales outlet, their licences must be cancelled immediately, he ordered. The Collector should follow it up, he said.
