May 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - Madurai:

Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar Yadav has placed under suspension the Inspector of Police of Jaihindpuram, S. Vairam, based on the complaint of a 21-year-old woman that he had ditched her after living with her for sometime.

In her complaint, the woman said that the Inspector had forced her to abort her pregnancy once. “The woman was sent for medical examination at Government Rajaji Hospital to verify her allegation,” Mr. Yadav said.

The woman had made the complaint with Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Samant Rohan Rajendra, who then asked the All Women Police of Tallakulam to enquire the case.

After the woman complained of stomach ache she was taken to the GRH for treatment.

“The woman had made a lot of contradictory statements that need to be verified. Meanwhile, pending enquiry, the Inspector has been placed under suspension. A case would be registered,” the Commissioner said.

Police sources said that the Inspector had befriended the woman when he helped her father to trace her after she went missing. The woman also complained that the Inspector had developed an affair with another woman.
