Infertility treatment camp organised

The Veterinary College and Research Institute here organised an infertility treatment camp at Kalakkudi near Manur in the district on Wednesday.

The Veterinary College and Research Institute, which has established a good rapport with farmers of this region, has adopted Kalakudi and Thulukarkulam in Manur block under the TANUVAS - Village Adoption Scheme.

The objective is to develop these two hamlets in co-ordination with other government departments and through Public - Private Partnership Mode to improve economic status, infrastructure and human development of the villages.

As part of this scheme the ‘Infertility treatment camp for dairy animals’ was organised at Kalakkudi. Dean, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli, M. Thirunavukkarasu, inaugurated the camp and delivered the presidential address.

During this camp, infertility-treatment related services like oestrus induction, hormonal therapy for infertility management, TANUVAS Mineral Mixture supplementation, artificial insemination and pregnancy diagnosis for cattle were rendered by the team of experts from the college.

A total of 111 dairy animals were treated in the camp. Artificial insemination was done to seven dairy cattle, oestrus induction was done for eight dairy cattle and 45 dairy cattle were diagnosed for pregnancy.

Dairy Consultant, Pudhu Vaazhvu Project, Tirunelveli district, E. Kumaragurubaran, and Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary College and Research Institute, T. Sathiyamoorthy, felicitated.

Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Veterinary College and Research Institute, S. Senthilkumar and president, NABARD Farmers Club, Kalakkudi, Manivannan, and others spoke.
