People's Watch and other like minded organisations and members of political parties organised a protest demanding that India should support the US-backed resolution against Sri Lanka for alleged war crimes at the UN Human Rights Commission.

The protest held near Thiruvalluvar statue in the city on Wednesday was led by Henri Tiphagne, executive director, People's Watch in the presence of C. J. Rajan, advocate, People's Watch.

The resolution appreciated the united voice of all the political parties here in Tamil Nadu demanding that India should support the US-sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka.

Unity should prevail

They demanded that this unity should be there till justice is rendered to the affected.

The protestors also demanded that to make India support the US-sponsored resolution against Sri Lanka for alleged war crimes, Tamil Nadu government should call for a day's bandh in support of the cause.

The Indian Government which talks only about assistance in the reconstruction work in the island and not about the alleged war crimes committed by Sri Lankan government against the Sri Lankan Tamils is condemnable, they said.
