The Central government has approved a scheme under which incentives would be given to private sector employers providing employment to persons with disabilities, an official said on Saturday.

The scheme would be applicable to all employers of employees with disabilities appointed after April 1, 2008, V.Vijayakumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, said in a release here.

The employers would be allowed to avail benefits under the incentive scheme on submitting the details of employees in the form specially prescribed for the purpose along with copy of disability certificate issued to the disabled employees by competent authority.

The employees with disabilities covered under persons with disabilities(equal opportunities ,protection of rights and full participation Act 1995,and the National Trust for Welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities Act 1999 and working in the private sector with monthly wage upto Rs. 25,000 per month would be covered under the scheme.

Incentive would be in the form of payment of the employers’ contribution by Government to the EPF and employees State Insurance for the first three years. The Administrative charge at 1.10 per cent of the total wages should be borne by the employer, it added.
