Former Revenue Minister I. Periyasamy, also a sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly representing Aathur Constituency in Dindigul district, has filed two anticipatory bail applications in the Madras High Court Bench here apprehending arrest either by the Kujiliyamparai police or the Dindigul District Crime Branch in a land grab case.
Two identical petitions
In the two identical petitions, Mr. Periyasamy said that an individual by name Soundar Rajan of Anna Nagar in Chennai had presented a petition before the Director General of Police accusing him of grabbing a land originally belonging to a doctor in Kujiliamparai.
The DGP had forwarded the petition to the Dindigul Superintendent of Police.
Thereafter, the petitioner was not sure whether it was referred to the Kujiliamparai police station or the District Crime Branch and so he filed two anticipatory bail applications. “In view of the complaint, there is an apprehension of arrest and if he is arrested, he will be put to great hardship and his reputation will be spoiled.
But, on the other hand, no prejudice would be caused to the police if he was enlarged on anticipatory bail,” his petition read.
