Hundreds of followers of Muthuramalinga Thevar took out processions carrying pots filled with milk and sprouts from different parts of the city on the eve of the late leader’s guru puja on Wednesday. They performed abishekam with the milk to the leader’s bronze statue at Goripalayam.

People from the city and the district as well as other districts garlanded the statue on their way to Pasumpon to pay homage at the leader’s memorial.

The city and district police had made elaborate security arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the event.
