Hundi collections at Palani temple exceeds one crore

Hundi collections at the famous Palani temple during the past one month exceeded Rs.one crore. This included 847 grams of gold and 6178 grams of silver besides foreign currency. Silver offerings had been made in the form of footwear,idols and anklets while there were spears, “Kavadi”, “Thali” chain and other items made of gold, a temple press release here said.

The famous Meenakshi Amman Temple registered earnings of Rs.19.26 lakh through hundi collections. A devotee had offered a ‘thali’ weighing 17 sovereigns through hundi. A release said offerings of 476 grams of Gold and 150 grams of silver were also collected.
