Unidentified persons broke into a house in Karuppayoorani and decamped with 10 sovereigns of gold and 1.5 kg of silver when the inmates were away.

Police said K. Vaithegi (60) had chosen to stay in her neighbour’s house on Saturday night as her son had informed her that he would come home only the next morning. On their return home at 4 a.m. on Sunday, they found the front door of the house broken open and the valuables kept in three almirahs missing. Karuppayoorani police are investigating.
