Hospital gets new equipment

Hannah Joseph Hospital in the city commissioned OPMI PENTERO 900 neurosurgical operating microscope. The equipment was inaugurated by Collector L. Subramanian on Saturday.

M.J. Arunkumar, Chairman and Managing Director of the hospital, said that by using this equipment, surgeries in the brain and spinal cord, including removal of brain tumours, aneurysms and congenital deformities, could be carried out with ease and precision.

A surgical visualisation platform which helped in fluorescence-based surgeries, the equipment cost over Rs. 2 crore.

“With the help of the equipment, operating and anaesthesia time can be greatly reduced, which will help in speedy recovery of the patient,” the doctor said.

Patients could avail themselves of this facility at no additional cost, he added.
