Gram sabha meeting held

Collector T.N. Hariharan participated in the gram sabha meeting held at Chinnamoopanpatti village under Sivagnanapuram panchayat on Wednesday.

The Collector stressed the importance of gram sabha meeting wherein people chalk out the programmes for improving infrastructure of the local body and discuss works implemented by the local body and its expenditure.

People demanded road facility, street lights and drainage for the village. They also sought community certificates for the Kattu Naickars and old age pension for the elders and revolving funds for the self help groups for women.

A pledge on creating awareness on HIV/AIDS was administered to the villagers. The villagers were advised not to neglect those affected by HIV/AIDS but to treat them as equals.

Revenue Divisional Officer (Aruppukottai) Gunasekaran, Assistant Director (Panchayats) Perumal and Deputy Collector (Training) Anushya Devi, Virudhunagar Tahsildar Mary Clara, and Panchayat President Karuppasamy, were present.
