Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah on Sunday visited the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here and offered prayers to the presiding deities.

He was received by the ‘Thakkar’ (Fit Person) of the temple, Karumuttu T. Kannan, and Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR and CE) Department and Executive Officer of the temple P. Jayaraman, along with other officials.

The Governor, who was accompanied by his wife, spent around 45 minutes in the temple.

He appreciated the ‘kolu’ arrangements at the temple. The temple had spent around Rs. 20 lakh for the dolls and other decorations.

He was in the city to attend the convocation of the Madurai Kamaraj University on Saturday. A large number of police and security personnel were posted in and around the temple.
