Curtains came down on the 10-day ‘Nellai Book Fair 2013’ on Sunday after more than 1.20 lakh persons visited the expo held at VOC Grounds, Palayamkottai, in a big way to buy Rs. 1.30 crore-worth books displayed in 100 stalls.

Though the exhibition was conducted by the district administration, in association with National Book Trust, BAPASI, (The Booksellers’ and Publishers’ Association of South India) and Tamil Development and Cultural Centre, Tirunelveli, after a long gap, the event evoked tremendous response from the publishers and the public, who visited the expo in large number all these days.

Apart from getting rare opportunities to listen to the literary critics and renowned writers every day, the visitors enjoyed the cultural programmes by schoolchildren, who showcased their talent in a range of events in all these days. Moreover, interesting short-films and documentaries were screened at the venue every day.
