Good inflows into Periyar and Vaigai dams

The onset of the North East monsoon has seen improved inflow into the Periyar and Vaigai dams in the district. PWD sources said the water level at the Periyar dam was 120 feet, against its maximum of 136 feet. The inflow was 713 cusecs and discharge, 1200 cusecs, they said.

The level in the Vaigai dam was 60.60 feet, against its maximum of 71 feet, with an inflow of 1095 cusecs and a discharge of 1,660 cusecs.

The rainfall recorded at 0830 hrs today (in mm): Uthamapalayam 12,Chitampatti and Veerapandi 9,Shanmuganadhi 7; In Ramanathapuram district, Thangachimadam recorded a heavy rainfall of 73.6 mm, Pamban 62.4 mm and Rameswaram 47.2 mm, they said.
