The Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, Kalyani Mathivanan, on Sunday said that she had formed a special committee to prepare proposals for the ‘Go Green' initiatives on the varsity campus.

It was said that members of the special committee will soon come out with proposals for various projects that could be undertaken on the university campus, including setting up of solar panels to tap solar energy. “I am following this closely and the committee will recommend some proposals. These proposals will be submitted to funding agencies such as the University Grants Commission for assistance. Also, they will be taken to the attention of State Government,” the VC said.

The VC said she had no idea of submitting a proposal to have solar panels to the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
