Girls grabbed majority of district ranks in the higher secondary examinations in both Dindigul and Theni districts here on Friday.
Girls in Dindigul town bagged all the three top ranks in the district. S. Kokila Devi of St. Joseph's Girls Higher Secondary School, Dindigul, emerged topper with 1,181 marks.
While K. Sanjana of St. Joseph's Matriculation School, Dindigul, scored 1,176 marks and K. Keerthana of S.M.B.M. Matriculation Higher Secondary School got 1,173 marks and settled with district third rank.
While Kokila and Sanjana wanted to take up medicine as their career, Keerathana desired to become an IAS officer.
Dindigul district has produced a state subject topper also. S. Dominic Xavier of Mettupatti and student of St. Mary's HSS was the state topper in radio and television mechanism subject in vocational course.
He scored 182 out of 200 in this subject. The school honoured him with a gift. His father was Y. Sengol Raj was a labourer. His goal was to become an engineer. Collector M. Vallalar honoured the district toppers.
While girls clinched the top two district ranks, the third rank was shared by a boy and a girl in the HSC exams. G. Kannathal Vaishnavi of Mary Madha HSS was the district topper with 1,181 marks. Vaishnavi wished to take up electronics and communication engineering.
Kammavar Higher Secondary School students got second and third ranks. Second rank holder was R. Ishwarya who scored 1,169 marks. Third rank was shared by K.P. Vivek and S. Vandhana who had scored 1,167 marks.
