A notorious ganja peddler, R. Senthilpandi (36), was arrested and 124 kg of ganja seized from him on Sunday night.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Narcotics Intelligence Bureau sleuths, intercepted a car and seized the narcotics, worth Rs. 12 lakh, from Senthilpandi of Sourashtrapuram in Vandiyur, and driver Kannan. Both were arrested and the car was seized along with the contraband.

The police said that Kannan, an associate of Senthilpandi, was an acting driver for a taxi, run by a woman. Kannan had taken the car to Andhra Pradesh for smuggling the drug on the pretext of taking a customer to Chennai. The duo were remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
