Four persons, including an engineering graduate, were arrested and a two-wheeler and three goats were seized from them on Tuesday.
Madurai District police said following complaints that goats were missing at Alanganallur and its surroundings, Superintendent of Police Vijayendra Bidari formed special teams. After gathering some vital clues, the police interrogated two persons, Kumaravel (25) and Vicky alias Vigneswaran (20).
The interrogation revealed that them duo along with two others – Raja alias Yuvaraja (20) and Samuel alias Shanmugavel (25) – were allegedly stealing goats and selling them.
When a villager tipped off that Samuel was spending lavishly in the recent months, the police grew suspicious and started monitoring his activities, a senior officer said.
