Foundation stone for regional centre of judicial academy laid in Madurai

The foundation stone for the regional centre of the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy to be built at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore was laid here.

Supreme Court Judge Justice P Sathasivam judge, Madras High Court Chief Justice M Yusf Eqbal and State Deputy Chief Minister M.K.Stalin participated at the function saturday.

Foundation stone was also laid for an Alternate Dispute Resolution centre to come up in the District court premises.

Speakers at the function said the proposed Regional Centre here and in Coimbatore, also to be built at a cost of about Rs 8.5 crore, would serve a crucial need of training not just for judicial officers but also police officials and related staff.

The regional centre, being funded by the centre (Rs 7.5 crore) and the State government (Rs one crore), would comprise conference halls, suites for Judges, hostel facilities and auditorium among others.
