Foot overbridge for Nellai Junction

A.K. Goel, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai division, Southern Railway, inspected the Railway Junction at Tirunelveli here on Sunday.

After making an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing developmental projects on the premises of station, Mr. Goel said that more infrastructure facilities to the tune of over Rs. 2 crore would be developed on the premises of the station.

A new foot overbridge would be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 75 lakh across the the platforms. Sanction has been given, he said.

Besides, more facilities including shelters would be created on all platforms to suit the requirements of passengers. Urinals would also be increased on the station premises. Parking lots for cars and auto-rickshaws would be established at the entrance of the junction. Night patrolling on tracks would be intensified to thwart any attempts of sabotage. He also took stock of the railway track arrangements in a trolley. Railway officials accompanied him during the inspection.
