Flood relief official inspects Tuticorin

Monitoring Officer of Flood Relief for Tuticorin District S.S. Jawahar visited parts of Tuticorin on Tuesday and took stock of preparedness of the district administration ahead of monsoon. He inspected the Buckle Canal from over a bridge at Threspuram.

He also made an on-the-spot assessment in low lying areas and other localities, which often got waterlogged during rain, according to a statement.

Appeal

After inspecting, he appealed to the Corporation authorities to undertake certain precautionary measures to ward off water stagnation.

Mr. Jawahar also inspected the water bodies at Korampallam, the main source of drinking water.

Team

Collector Ashish Kumar, Commissioner of Tuticorin Corporation S. Madhumathi and a team of officials from Public Works Department and Agriculture Department accompanied Mr. Jawahar during the inspection.
