Flood control room opened in Madurai

Ahead of the northeast monsoon, a full-fledged flood control room has been established at the Collector’s office here.

The Collector Anshul Mishra had presided over a district coordination committee meeting in this regard on September 7 to discuss on steps to be taken in the event of natural calamities. Various government department officials were told to monitor the weather conditions in their areas closely and act swiftly in case of flood due to heavy rain.

As per the State government’s plan, all the district headquarters should have a flood control room from October 1. Public can contact the following land line numbers in the event of any emergencies, a release said:
