Five more held in workers’ murder case

Five more persons were arrested here on Sunday in connection with the murder of three sanitary workers here on Friday morning.

The arrested were Sardhar (24) of Begampur, Sagayam, (25), Raman (27) and Vengidu (30) of Paraimedu Street and Rafiq (25) Bismi Nagar. All the accused were produced before court which remanded them in judicial custody.

So far 12 persons were arrested. The police are in search of two more.

They had arrested S. Velankanni (35) of NSK Nagar, S. Vinodh, (23) of NSK Nagar, S. Karthik (24) of Paraimedu Street, Prasanth (26) of NSK Nagar, S. Ramanathan of Paraimedu Street, V. Arokiasamy (46) of Solai Hall Road and K. Yogaraj (23) of Aranmanaikulam on Saturday.

Three sanitary workers were murdered by a gang at three different places at the same time here on Friday to revenge the murder of their friend.

Five special teams had been constituted to nab the accused.
