A match unit employee C. Damodaran Kannan (35) was injured when he tried to set some waste from the match unit on fire outside its campus at Thayilpatti near here on Friday evening.
Some chemical residue among the waste created a ball of fire that injured him, the police said.
With 30% fire, he was admitted to the Government Hospital at Sivakasi. The Vembakoatti police are investigating.
