Imposing a hefty fine of ₹10,000 each on three persons, who are constructing houses in Anuppanadi area, for not keeping open spaces on their premises clean and thus facilitating mosquito breeding, Corporation Commissioner S. Aneesh Sekhar said that people who do not cooperate with the civic body in its anti-dengue measures would not be spared.

Inspecting wards where cases of dengue were reported, the Commissioner urged people to be extra cautious in the water they drink to ensure good health.

The residents in Sector 6 of Housing Board Colony here were told to use dumper bins and not to dump their household waste on the roadside and defunct water channels. The tanks kept on the terrace and water stored in plastic containers in some of the houses were found unclean.

Dr. Sekhar inspected the multi-storey government hospital coming up near Anna Bus Stand and found stagnant water at the site. He directed the engineers to use keep the surroundings clean. Later, he visited Lourdu Nagar Seventh Main Road where there was a fever casualty last week. As the situation had not improved in some houses, the residents were urged to cover the containers.

Corporation officials said they had provided dumper bins wherever they were sought and asked the residents to use them to keep their surroundings clean.
