Various speakers demanded the State government to take action on non-filling of vacancies meant for Arunthathiyars in Madurai Kamaraj University.
At a public hearing organised by People’s Union for Human Rights (PUHR) here recently, the members said in 2009, the State had, through a Government Order, announced that three per cent reservation (within the SC category) would be provided for Arunthathiyars in employment. When every government department in the State had followed the roster system in appointments of Arunthathiyars as per the G.O, the MKU administration had not carried the directive, they charged.
“The High Court had granted interim stay on 10 appointments to the posts of lecturers/professors made by the university,” Prof. Marx said.
The speakers said a G.O. had been passed to implement reservation for Arunthathiyars, but the university had not followed the rules.
