File annual returns, employers told

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has asked employers of establishments/ factories covered under Employees' Provident Funds Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952 to file annual returns in Form 3A and 6 A for 2009-10 on or before April 30.

The returns should be submitted to the Office of Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, Madurai. Employers have to furnish the returns in floppy along with a hard copy before the last date.

Failure to comply with will result in legal action for non-submission of annual returns. The relevant laws provide for imprisonment or a fine which may be up to Rs. 4,000 or both. Returns can be submitted in electronic mode also. The forms can be downloaded from web site of EPFO www.epfindia.nic.in (or) www.epfochennai.tn.nic.in.
