Recruitment of teaching staff for the Kodaikanal-based Mother Teresa Women's University will be done on two days, April 5 and 6.
The university had been taking all steps to appoint faculty for its departments and the State Government had accorded sanction for undertaking the recruitment process, Aruna Sivakami, Vice-Chancellor, said on Wednesday.
“In the first phase of recruitment held for teaching and non-teaching posts in July last year, around 60 staff were appointed for the university. Now, we are going to recruit another 15 teaching staff,” she told The Hindu here.
The approval of the Syndicate for the new appointments would be taken at the meeting to be held during May, she said. Dr.Sivakami said that the university had been focusing on adequate teaching and non-teaching staff in a phased manner.
The Vice-Chancellor said that focus was also laid on strengthening the infrastructure for the university and its undergraduate/ B.Ed. colleges.
A representation has been to the senior State Government officials to take steps for improving the transport facilities to the Mother Teresa Women's University for the benefit of students and staff.
“We are in touch with the Higher Education Secretary, transport officials and local authorities in this regard. On behalf of the university, I want to request the transport authorities to run special trips from important points starting from Madurai,” Dr. Sivakami said.
She said that the university had already purchased two buses and it had sought permission to buy another vehicle to meet the present requirements.
