Four southern districts are among the top ten revenue districts that have performed well in the Class X examinations, results of which were declared on Friday.

Kanyakumari tops the list among southern districts. It has recorded 97.78 pass percentage, an increase of 0.49 per cent compared to last year. Kanyakumari is ranked second in the State. Virudhunagar, with 96.55 passes, boasts of having secured its best pass percentage so far. It occupies the fourth position in the State. Last year, it had secured 94.93 per cent. Tuticorin has recorded 94.22 pass percentage, a slight dip from its performance last year, which was 95.42. It is ranked eighth this year.

Sivaganga has seen an improvement in its performance and has climbed up to the 9th slot from 12th position it held last year. The district has recorded 93.44 per cent pass this year.

Madurai and Ramanathapuram districts occupy 11th and 12th slots in the State. Ramanathapuram has secured 93.11 per cent and Madurai 93.13 per cent (93.43 per cent last year). Tirunelveli has seen a dip of 0.88 per cent in its pass percentage. This year it has recorded 91.98 per cent, against last year’s 92.86 per cent.

Officials have cited poor performance of boys as reason for the dip.

With 89.84 pass percentage, Dindigul is ranked 23, despite an increase in pass percentage by 1.23 per cent.

Theni, ranked 26th, has seen a fall in its performance. Last year, it recorded 89 per cent. This year 87.66 per cent of those who appeared for the examinations got through.
