Father held for daughter's murder in Madurai

A man was arrested for killing his daughter in Madurai district in Tamil Nadu, police said.

Rangasami was arrested Thursday after his wife Lakshmi filed a complaint that he murdered their daughter Mariselvi.

According to police, Rangasami was upset with the ways of his daughter who did not listen to him. Fearing societal black mark on the family, Rangasami decided to murder his daughter with the help of his friends.

“Rangasami and his friends forcibly fed Mariselvi pesticide and also injected her poison Aug 24 when the victim’s mother was away,” a police officer said.

The police have also arrested Rangasami’s three accomplices who helped him commit the crime.

Rangasami has confessed to the crime, police said.
