Expedite sugar millwork, says Minister

June 18, 2011 02:10 am | Updated August 18, 2016 03:00 pm IST - MADURAI:

Minister for Cooperation Sellur K. Raju on Friday asked the officials and contractor to expedite the work to construct a 15-megawatt co-generation plant at National Cooperative Sugar Mills at Alanganallur in the district.

Inspecting the mill, he found that the work was going on at a slow pace. Officials said that the particular private contractor was entrusted with the construction work of co-generation plants in 11 government and cooperative sugar mills in the State and hence the sluggishness in carrying out the work at Alanganallur.

Mr. Raju called up the contractor and advised him to expedite the work. He also advised the Special Officer of the mill, R. Nandagopal, to closely monitor the work.

The Minister also inspected repair works being carried out at the crusher unit. He verified the stocks at the fair price shop on the mill premises. Sholavandan MLA M.V. Karuppaiah was present.
