The Centre should expedite the Sethu canal project, said Dravidar Kazhagam president K. Veeramani here on Wednesday.

He told reporters that it was high time the ambitious project was implemented without any delay. Though some parties and leaders, with ulterior motives, attempted to stall the work, the government should complete it.

The project was given a shape during the former Prime Minister Vajpayee regime, he recalled. Early completion alone would economically enhance the southern region to a higher level among the masses.
