Ex-Minister granted bail

A court at Srivilliputtur in Virudhunagar district on Tuesday granted bail to former State Minister K.K.S.S.R.Ramachandran and two others in a case pertaining to kidnap and torture of former Chairperson of S.Kodikulam Town Panchayat J.M.Gose.

Mr.Ramachandran surrendered before the Principal and District Sessions Court here as directed by the High Court when he sought an anticipatory bail in the case. The Krishnankoil police had booked Mr.Ramachandran, who is also the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam district secretary, his son, Ramesh and his cousin, Subbaraja in the case.

As per the bail condition, Mr.Ramachandran and others have to sign the register at Krishnankoil police station at 10 a.m. every day.

They have been charged under the provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Gose, who was a DMK functionary earlier, had complained that Mr.Ramachandran and others kidnapped him to Bangalore and tortured him in confinement.
