‘Exercise caution while investing in finance firms’

‘Public could lodge complaints with the EOW office’

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) police have appealed to the public to be cautious while investing their small savings.

This appeal comes following the filing of a case based on a complaint by R.N.Nirmala Nageswari.

According to the complainant, a finance firm, called ‘Sun Financial Consultancy’ which had its offices on the Tamil Sangam Road, Anna Bus Stand, and Anna Nagar, from July 2009 to May 2013, had allegedly cheated several investors by promising huge returns on deposits. Recurring and fixed deposit schemes were also announced.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the firm was operated by one Yakiya Narayanan (41), son of Jayaraman of Sudiyur in Ramanathapuram district, S.Krishnakumar (43), son of Subramanian of Tirunelveli city, and S.Ganesh, son of Solai of Silukuvarpatti in Dindigul district. The EOW police arrested Krishnakumar and produced him in a city court on Saturday. The other two accused are evading arrest.

A press release from the police said the public could lodge complaints with the EOW office at 158, 4 North Cross Street, Anna Nagar or contact 0452-2532161.
