In order to scout for sporting champions among differently abled youths, GMS Foundation and Young Indians are hosting a three-day ‘Tamil Nadu Para Sports State Championship’ starting January 26.

According to the organisers, those who emerge victorious in sports like athletics, powerlifting, shooting and swimming will qualify for the national events to be held later this year. A press statement said the sporting event would play a crucial role in determining those representing India in the Paralympics.

Eligible participants include those who are physically challenged, ambulant, dwarf and those affected by polio. It also includes youth with spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, visual impairment and intellectual disability. The events will cover wide range athletics, powerlifting, shooting and swimming.

Aspirants can apply on the spot as entries will be accepted at Dr MGR Race Course Stadium. For details, contact: 0452 - 439 1434 / 252 2743.
