The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has introduced Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR) for depositing contributions by the employers. In a statement, Regional PF Commissioner R. Venkitaraman said the EPFO has introduced ECR for depositing contributions by all the employers in order to provide hassle-free services to the subscribers and as part of utilising information technology for better service.

All employers of the revenue districts of Tirunelveli and Tuticorin should download the return form for 2012 – 2013, from the EPFO website and deposit money. After filling-up the form, the employers can generate a challan for depositing the money in the bank.

As soon as the bank confirms the receipts of the contribution, simultaneously, the EPFO will make entries and update the members' accounts. Further, there will be no need to file returns in Form 5, 10, 3A, 6A and 12A by unexempted establishments and Form 3 PS, 4 PS, 5 PS, 6 PS and 8 PS by exempted establishments.

For utilising this new system, all employers should obtain the ‘User ID' and the ‘Password' by logging into www.epfindia.gov.in anytime and go to the link ‘employer e-sewa.' For the accounting year 2011 – 2012, the employers should submit the annual returns (F/3A and F/6A) only through an electronic form along with the hard copy on or before April 30, 2012. The programme for submitting e-returns (in txt file) is available in the EPFO website (www.epfindia.com / www.epfindia.gov.in) in the name ‘e-return tool for employer.' For clarification, the employers may contact 0462 – 2554606, Mr. Venkitaraman said.
