At the 14th edition of the The Hindu - EDGE Vetrikodi Career Counselling and Fair 2018 here on Friday, Ramesh Prabbha, Chairman and Managing Director, Galaxy Group of Companies, explained a plethora of jobs available in several areas.

The discussion began with a breakdown of all available courses in interesting streams. The speaker highlighted common career choices like engineering and medicine and also offbeat courses like catering and hotel management, pilot training and veterinary sciences. “While there are a number of courses that may pique our interest, they must also align with our aptitude,” he said.

Mr. Ramesh Prabbha outlined the basic criteria for all courses and the best institutes in India and Tamil Nadu. He spoke of the need for clarity, a major deficit with the current generation, he said. He listed courses in agriculture, fisheries science, fine arts, sports and visual arts and highlighted job prospects in the respective area.

“With sustained efforts, students can succeed in all areas. Since many lack guidance, they get confused and pursue courses that they do not like or enjoy. This can be changed with healthy interaction,” he said.

S. Vishwadharun Kumar, a student, said that the session was useful as it provided a lot of room to think. He said that the speaker elaborated on the approximate fee structure for each course and this helped him narrow down his choices.
