The famous Tirumalai Naicker Mahal (palace) in this city, recently renovated at a cost of Rs 3 crore, will soon have an “eco-park” around it, a top corporation official said here on Wednesday.

The mahal would have a “grass-paved platform” around it and the estimate for the same is being worked out, Corporation Commissioner S Sebastine said.

The eco park is being constructed on the suggestion of Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertiliser M K Alagiri to beautify the Mahal with a park around it.

Mr. Sebastine said the Corporation has also decided to renovate the Primary Health centres at Pykara and Palanganatham. These PHCs would be upgraded to the level of private hospitals, he said.

The corporation maintains 17 maternity hospitals and 12 Hospitals, he said.
