Awards certifying the best methods adopted by drivers to avert accident risks on road were given to select drivers in Tuticorin on Saturday. J. Rajendran, Superintendent of Police, handed over the certificates to 35 drivers of government agencies and educational institutions at a programme in Tuticorin South police station organised as part of the 23rd Road Safety Week celebrations. The drivers, who had been honoured with certificates, were not involved in a single accident risk over a span of ten years since 2002.
After witnessing this event, other drivers would also be encouraged to drive carefully and in a safe manner, he said.
Buses of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bearing the traffic signals were parked on the premises. Pamphlets containing signals, which should be learnt by the drivers, were issued to the participants.
The drivers, who had been deputed in Departments of Fire and Rescue Services, Police, Corporation, Transport, Medical College and other educational institutions.
