Collector M. Ravikumar reviewed the progress of anti-dengue measures at a meeting here on Wednesday. Commissioner and Special Officer K. Rajamani was present.
As many as 500 persons including 325 domestic mosquito breeding checkers, health department staff, entomologists, sanitary staff and inspectors were involved in the exercise. Besides, 15 rapid response teams were being deployed.
People were told to drink ‘nilavembu’ concoction, give limestone painting to cement tubs to prevent mosquitoes from breeding and clean water containers once in five or six days.
Fogging operations were being carried out. Mobile health camps were being conducted.
Self-help groups were involved in creating awareness and adopting precautionary measures to lead a disease free life. If house owners did not cooperate to ensure cleanliness, water supply would be disconnected.
The Commissioner said extra dose of chlorination in water was being done during water supply. Chlorination in private water tanker lorries was also being checked.
