With cadres in exuberant mood and allies assembling in large numbers to cheer him, DMDK leader Vijayakant enthralled the audience with his ‘quixotic’ speech here on Friday.

The actor-turned politician spent much of his time on Mullai Periyar issue blaming both the Dravidian parties for such a pathetic condition. “Aren’t you tired of voting the DMK and the AIADMK again and again even though they did nothing for you and betrayed farmers consistently on Mullai Periyar issue,” he questioned. Both the parties had been making false promises.

This time too, they have given the same false promise to solve the issue. When MGR met Kerala Ministers to solve Mullai Periyar issue, why was it that Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa refused to meet their Kerala counterparts.

It was only ego that held them back. They should give first priority to people’s welfare and not to their ego. They promised to execute 58th channel project, but they did not. Only the Modi government would help Tamils ensure their rights, he said.
