Draft electoral roll released

Names can be included till November 8

Names of 20.56 lakh voters have been listed in the draft electoral roll released for Madurai district on Monday. Inclusion and deletion of names and incorporating corrections in the voter list could be done till November 8.

Collector U. Sagayam released the draft voter list for the 10 assembly constituencies of Madurai district. Among the voters are 10,28,088 men and 10,28,102 women. Inclusion of names of all persons, who would attain 18 years of age as on January 1, 2012, could be done under the summary revision of voter list.

People should submit Form 6 for inclusion, Form 7 for deletion of names and Form 8 for making corrections. For change of residential address within the same Assembly segment, people should use Form 8A. The forms should be submitted at their respective polling booths, taluk offices and the offices of the Assistant Commissioners of Corporation.

The voter list would be read out at the Gram Sabha meetings to be held on October 29 and November 1, a statement said.

Two special camps would be conducted on October 30 and November 6 (Sundays). The final voter list would be released on January 5.

The Collector said that residents of Corporation can use the opportunity to revise the ward numbers in their voter identity card since the number of the wards have been changed following the expansion of the city boundaries.
